WACV is built for people doing hands-on computer vision work, not executives looking for a high-level AI trend overview. The three-track split pulls in a specific mix.

Applied ML engineers building vision products get the sharpest fit. The Applications track scores real-world systems impact, not benchmark leaderboard position. If you ship crop-disease detection or biomedical segmentation, the reviewers here are calibrated to the right bar.

CV researchers submitting to the Algorithms track get peer feedback from a program committee organized around 3D vision, detection, segmentation, and foundation model adaptation. Dataset and benchmark specialists get one of the only formal academic venues explicitly built for publishing benchmark failure-mode analysis. And PhD students weighing WACV against CVPR or ICCV land at a lower-cost venue with a friendlier acceptance bar for applications-focused work.

The honest caveat: if you want the single highest-prestige venue for a purely theoretical algorithms paper, CVPR or NeurIPS still weigh more in tenure committees. WACV’s applications-first framing is a feature for practitioners and a limitation if raw novelty is your only metric.

Round 2 gives you no rebuttal stage. So if you want any chance to argue back against reviewers, you submit in Round 1. Both rounds converge on the same October 9 final-decision date and the same November 2 camera-ready deadline, meaning a Round 2 acceptance leaves you a very tight turnaround. Papers route through OpenReview. The LaTeX and Word templates are listed as “to be provided” on the current site, so do not grab a random old .sty file.

WACV 2026 pricing is the only planning number that exists

For context, WACV 2026 in Tucson charged $700 in-person early for IEEE/CVF members and $900 for non-members, with student rates around $475 to $525 and virtual access at roughly $175 to $200 (checked 2026-08-24, wacv2026.thecvf.com/attend/registration). Treat that as a planning benchmark, not a forecast.
