SIGKDD 2027: Dates, Venue, Tracks & Deadlines

SIGKDD 2027, the 33rd ACM SIGKDD Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining, runs August 1-5, 2027 at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California (checked 2026-08-24, kdd2027.kdd.org). Four submission tracks are open with named program co-chairs and a first-cycle paper deadline of July 26, 2026. Keynote speakers, the full agenda, and registration pricing have not been published. The submission decision is the one that matters this year.

I track AI and data science conferences the same way I track AI tool deals: primary sources first, aggregators never. For SIGKDD 2027 that means the conference site and its four track-specific calls for papers, cross-checked against the SIGKDD parent organization’s conference list. Anyone quoting 2027 keynote names or registration prices right now is filling in gaps the organizers themselves haven’t filled.

SIGKDD 2027 is the 33rd year of the most cited data mining venue in the world

SIGKDD is the flagship research conference of ACM’s Special Interest Group on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining. CORE, the independent Computing Research and Education ranking body, rates it A*. Between 1994 and 2015 the conference published roughly 4,489 papers that went on to more than 112,570 citations, a scale of academic influence few applied AI events can match (checked 2026-08-24, kdd.org).

The conference is peer-reviewed and research-first, not a vendor floor. Historical acceptance rates run 15-20% of submissions. KDD 2014 accepted 151 of over 1,000 for a 14.6% acceptance rate. That selectivity is why the room draws serious researchers and applied data science teams rather than a general “AI curious” crowd. Papers here become the tools I test 18 to 36 months later.

San Jose puts the conference next to the labs already publishing here

SIGKDD 2027 lands in Silicon Valley, within reach of Google, Meta, Apple, and dozens of AI-native startups that regularly publish at the conference. San Jose Mineta International Airport and SFO both sit a short ride from the convention center. KDD 2025 ran at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre August 3-7, 2025, and KDD 2026 moved to Jeju, Korea August 9-13, 2026. SIGKDD rotates host city almost every year, which is why last year’s guide is not this year’s guide.

Four tracks with named co-chairs, one still short a chair

SIGKDD 2027 has published four submission tracks with named program co-chairs and a first cycle already open. No general conference chairs or keynote speakers have been announced. What follows is exactly what has a name on it.

The Applied Data Science co-chair lineup is a signal on its own. Program leadership from LinkedIn, YouTube/Google, and Pinterest tells you the track is genuinely built around real, deployed industry systems, not academic simulations dressed up as applications. The track’s submission rules back it up: papers without quantified post-launch performance metrics face automatic desk rejection, with only narrow exceptions for regulatory constraints.

The July 26 paper deadline is the deadline that matters

All three published tracks share the same first cycle: abstract due July 19, 2026, paper due July 26, 2026, author rebuttal September 29 to October 13, 2026, and notification November 14, 2026 (checked 2026-08-24, kdd2027.kdd.org). The Research Track also references a second cycle around February 2027; specific 2027 Cycle 2 dates are not yet public.

Six format rules that quietly get papers desk-rejected before a reviewer opens them:

• OpenReview submission only. Every author needs a complete OpenReview profile (institutional affiliations back at least five years, homepage, DBLP, ORCID). New profiles created without an institutional email hit a moderation queue that can take up to two weeks.
• ACM proceedings template. Double-column, `\documentclass[sigconf,anonymous,review]{acmart}` in LaTeX. Eight content pages plus references, plus an optional unlimited appendix. Review is double-blind; strip names, affiliations, giveaway self-citations.
• Deadlines are Anywhere-on-Earth. No extensions, for any reason. Author list locks at the abstract deadline. No adding, removing, or reordering after July 19.
• Seven-submissions cap per author per cycle in the Research Track. The eighth and later get desk-rejected by submission ID.
• You may have to review. Every submission nominates at least one qualified reviewer. Anyone listed on three or more papers can be auto-enrolled.
• Withdraw after reviews and you are locked out. Pulling a paper after reviews are revealed triggers a 12-month waiting period before you can submit to KDD again.

Two cost facts almost never make the headline registration price. Every accepted paper needs its own distinct full 5-day, non-student registration to appear in the proceedings, so two papers means two registrations even when the authors overlap. And ACM’s 2027 open-access model charges an APC to authors from institutions outside ACM Open. ACM is subsidizing 2027 APCs to $500 for ACM/SIG members and $750 for non-members, a 29% discount ACM funds directly. Budget for both before you celebrate an acceptance.

SIGKDD 2027 has no published registration fees, no early-bird window, and no ticket tiers. If you see a specific 2027 price anywhere outside `kdd2027.kdd.org`, it is an estimate at best. What we do have is KDD 2025 in Toronto, which is a reasonable planning baseline (not a promise).

First, SIGKDD registration has run in the $1,000-$1,750 range for full conference access for years, a meaningfully higher price point than most vendor conferences and driven by academic cost structure (venue, proceedings, reviewing) not sponsor-subsidized pricing. Second, student rates have consistently run 40-60% below the non-member rate, so grad students with an accepted paper should budget for the student tier specifically.

There is no discount code, partner promotion, or early-access deal for SIGKDD 2027 from StackVerdict or anyone else. Anyone selling one today is not working from anything on the official site.

The buy-or-wait framing I would apply here

For academic researchers, applied data scientists, and domain scientists doing genuinely publishable work, SIGKDD is one of the strongest venues in the field, and that reputation is not something 2027 needs to prove. The four confirmed tracks and the caliber of the co-chairs already named suggest 2027 is being built with the same rigor as prior editions.

If you have research or a deployed system worth submitting, the decision is already made for you. The July 26, 2026 paper deadline is the deadline that matters, over a year before the conference itself. If you are weighing attendance only, wait for registration pricing and the keynote lineup to publish (likely first half of 2027) before committing travel budget.
