IUI 2027, the 32nd ACM Conference on Intelligent User Interfaces, runs February 8-11, 2027 at Paasitorni in Helsinki, Finland (venue per SIGCHI’s own listing, not yet echoed on the conference site). Paper abstracts are due August 13, 2026 and full papers August 20, 2026. The organizing and program committees are fully public. Keynote speakers, exact venue confirmation, and registration pricing are still TBA (checked 2026-08-24, iui.acm.org/2027).
I track IUI because the human-AI interaction papers that clear its 25% acceptance rate become the interface patterns I see baked into shipped LLM products 12 to 18 months later. Anyone treating IUI as a trade show with a discount code is reading the wrong conference.
IUI 2027 deadlines are the actual decision point, not the February dates
IUI 2027 lists five submission tracks with staggered deadlines, all end of day Anywhere on Earth (checked 2026-08-24, iui.acm.org/2027/call-for-papers):

The August 20 full-paper deadline is what forces a decision now. If your user study will not be finished in time, the posters and demos track (November 10) buys three extra months while still reaching the same reviewer pool.
IUI 2027 review timeline is tighter than most conference guides admit
Initial paper notifications land October 29, 2026. The invited rebuttal window closes November 5, 2026. Final decisions ship November 23, 2026. Camera-ready is due December 3, 2026 (posters and demos get until December 18). The rebuttal is invited, not automatic, so only some submissions get that one-week reply window. Block out late October and the first week of December now, not just the August dates.
IUI 2027 program leadership is fully public, keynotes are not
The general chairs are Guilio Jacucci and Dorota Glowacka (University of Helsinki), with Simone Stumpf (University of Glasgow). The program chairs are Antti Oulasvirta (Aalto University), Nikola Banovic (University of Michigan), Xiaojuan Ma (HKUST), and Daricia Wilkinson (Arizona State University). Workshop and tutorial chairs, doctoral consortium chairs, and posters and demos chairs are all named on the official committees page.
For a paper-driven conference the program chairs matter more than any keynote lineup. Keynote speakers have not been announced, and I am not going to guess who they will be.
IUI 2027 review bar comes from the 25% acceptance rate at IUI 2025
IUI 2025 in Cagliari accepted 97 technical papers out of 387 submissions, a 25% acceptance rate, backed by 56 senior program committee members and 503 total reviewers (checked 2026-08-24, dl.acm.org proceedings front matter). That is the bar IUI 2027 papers get held to. Papers use the ACM TAPS single-column review format, target 8,000 words excluding references, and go through double-blind review, so anonymize author names, affiliations, and self-identifying citations before you submit.
The seven paper themes cover computational innovation, innovative user interfaces (AR/VR, affective, wearable), human-centered AI methods (explainable AI, trust, personalization), intelligent multimodal systems, intelligent applications (healthcare, automotive, education), and a dedicated theme for large language models and agentic AI interaction design. That last theme is the one worth watching. IUI is treating LLM and agent interaction design as its own formal category, not a subsection of “innovative interfaces”.
IUI 2027 open access charges are new for this cycle
As of January 1, 2026, ACM is fully open access, so accepted papers may carry an Article Processing Charge. ACM says 70 to 75% of papers are covered because the author’s institution belongs to ACM Open. Everyone else pays. The transition subsidy currently caps the APC at $250 for ACM/SIGCHI members and $350 for non-members (ACM notes pricing may change). Check whether your institution is on the ACM Open participating list before you submit. At least one author of an accepted paper must register for the main conference and present in person.
IUI 2027 registration and venue are not public yet
The IUI 2027 site’s sponsors and host-institution sections both still read “more info coming soon”. No registration page is live. That is normal for an ACM research conference seven months out. I am not going to invent numbers.
For a planning reference (not a confirmed 2027 figure), IUI 2026 in Limassol opened at €900 to €1,150 for ACM/SIGCHI members, €1,075 to €1,325 for non-members, and roughly €535 to €765 for students (checked 2026-08-24, iui.acm.org/2026). There is no StackVerdict discount code tied to this event. If one becomes real I will add it here.
IUI 2027 is worth attending if you build AI interfaces, not if you sell AI tools
You will get value out of IUI 2027 if you fit one of a few profiles. HCI researchers studying how people perceive, trust, and control AI systems. UX designers building AI product interfaces who want peer-reviewed methodology rather than another “AI UX trends” listicle. Applied ML engineers working on recommendation systems, LLM interaction, or human-in-the-loop debugging. Doctoral students in HCI or AI-adjacent programs, since IUI runs a dedicated doctoral consortium with its own review track. Healthcare and automotive UX teams, since both verticals are named directly in the paper call.
Skip it entirely if you want product demos, vendor pitches, or sales-adjacent networking. IUI runs on double-blind review and a 25% acceptance rate. Pitch decks do not clear that bar.
My buy-or-skip framing is the same one I apply to AI tool deals. Submit a paper, tutorial, or poster if your work fits one of the seven themes and you can hit the August or November deadlines. That is where this conference’s actual value lives. Plan to attend as an observer if you want peer-reviewed AI interface research without deadline pressure, and hold off booking travel until registration and venue details go live.
You do not need to book Helsinki flights this week. You do need to decide by August 20 whether you have a full paper worth submitting.
